2020 BLANC DE NOIRS

ANDERSON VALLEY ESTATE

“Light green color. The mousse is extremely fine and lasting. The nose is delicate and shows finesse and elegance, marrying strawberry and cherry with ripe citrus, accented by a touch of just-baked brioche. The palate is vivacious, intense, and beautifully balanced between light red fruit flavors, just-ripe orchard fruit, delicate toasted bread, and a long-lasting almondy finish. Clean, precise, and intense, it delivers a wonderful experience whether enjoyed at cocktail hour or with dinner guests at the table. Watch out, Champagne!” – Stéphane Vivier

91 Points, Wine Advocate

The 2016 Blanc de Noirs was made in the style of an Extra Brut and disgorged in January of 2020. The nose opens with deep aromas of pie crust and crushed apples with very pretty top notes of elderflower and petrichor. The palate is medium-bodied and dry with savory flavor layers and lively mousse, and it finishes long and perfumed with tangy uplift.” – Erin Brooks

92 Points, James Suckling

“Bright and lifted with a lovely yeasty, autolytic undertone, showing aromas of lemon peel, orchard fruits and apple blossom. The palate is tightly wound with highly strung acidity, complemented nicely by 6 grams per liter of dosage after three years on tirage. Nicely constructed. Drink or hold.” – Ryan Montgomery

93 Points, Decanter

Sourced entirely from Long Meadow Ranch’s Anderson Valley Estate, this blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (the Pinot Roederer 32 clone) spent 36 months sur lie and was finished at 4 g/l, extra-brut. Crafted by winemaker Stéphan Vivier, it is an elegant sparkler with a rich, frothy mousse, offering fragrant baking spice, lemon zest and French pastry notes. The palate carries a balanced saline-acid freshness with mineral tension on the finish. — Jonathan Cristaldi

92 Points, James Suckling

“A bright and fresh sparkling wine with a more compact palate and brighter acidity than the 2018. Medium-bodied. Refined bubbles and a linear and crisp finish. A slightly salty undertone. Dry at the end. 36 months on the lees and a dosage of 5 g/l. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling

GROWING SEASON

This year started as one of the wettest on record, with our last storm coming in the spring. Consequently, spring was a race against time with the plants growing fast. Our Anderson Valley teams worked relentlessly to keep the vineyards in balance. When the summer days arrived, the vines were ready to profit from the mild temperatures during summer and early September, allowing the grapes to develop complex and fully mature profiles.
